Qualifying R&D expenditure included costs for:
Leading cheese manufacturer, Procter’s Cheeses, has been developing its products for almost 30 years, using an innovative process to give its cheeses a lighter texture and wide range of flavours.
Now led by Tim Procter, the fourth generation cheesemaker to be at the helm of the business, the company offers a wide range of gourmet flavours as well as increasingly popular cheese celebration cakes to mark special occasions.
Its factory, on the outskirts of Chipping, near Preston, offers top specification refrigeration, packing and warehouse facilities for the storage and maturing of quality cheese. It is from here that the company’s NPD team research and develop potential new flavours and textures to bring to market, and manufacture more than 200 tonnes of cheese each year.
Having already worked with Champion for in excess of 10 years, Procter’s Cheeses took no hesitation in hiring us to handle its R&D claim.
By claiming against the purchasing of raw ingredients needed to explore new products and textures, as well as the amount of staff time dedicated specifically to this process, we were able to claim back a cash refund, which will be reinvested back into the Procter’s’ manufacturing facility.
“We’ve always had a great relationship with Champion, so it made sense for them to handle our claim as they are so familiar with our business. The whole process was explained thoroughly and clearly, and our submission was successful.
“The cash we have received feels like a windfall to us. It will go towards a renovation of our factory including an extension to our production room, with new flooring and equipment for our expert team.
“We’re so pleased with how Champion handled the process, and that the money will work to benefit future generations of the Procter family, our team and our customers.”
