Going digital: a seamless transition from Sage to Xero

September 4th, 2020

Every business is different. So, it makes sense that not every digital accounting platform will work for every business. Instead, companies should take the time to understand the different solutions available and choose one which suits their needs. Or, they should employ a specialist like Champion Accountants to make the decision on their behalf.

Lynx IDG is an interior design and shopfitting specialist based in Cheshire, offering minor makeovers through to full design and build projects specifically for opticians and audiologists. An existing client of Champion’s, the company had been using Sage to undertake its day-to-day finances for several years. Though this had been relevant when first introduced, as the company and its team had developed, it became clear an alternative product would prove more efficient.

Our team of digital accounting experts worked closely with Lynx IDG to understand its specific needs and determined that Xero would offer a much more comprehensive – but simple to use – offering. While we were still employed to undertake management accounts and VAT returns, the Lynx IDG team could quickly get to grips with Xero to manage its invoices, statements and reconciliations.

Xero automatically handles accounting processes such as importing bank transactions and issuing invoice reminders, providing a top-level snapshot of a business’ performance. From professional services to retail, Xero is suited to a range of SMEs and can actively support the growth of a business.

As an accredited Xero accountant and Xero Silver partner, we were able to deliver the Lynx IDG team with suitable training before they started using the platform themselves following the completion of their financial year.

Marie Mayers at Lynx IDG, said: “Invoicing and payment isn’t clear cut for us, as we have a staged payments process. Sage, for us, didn’t make this process easier but Xero has transformed the way we work.

“In a single glance, I can manage all our sales invoices, statements and reconciliations, and doing so has saved us mammoth amounts of time which has just made our whole business more efficient.

“Regardless of your level of financial knowledge, Xero makes everything so simple. Plus, it’s enabled us to go paperless. Before, we had reams and reams of paper, but now everything is cloud-based, the need for paper copies has been almost eradicated.

“Champion took care of us, every step of the way during our transition to Xero and are still always at the end of the phone. No question feels too silly, and their answers are straightforward. Champion suggesting Xero has been a revelation for our business, and I cannot speak highly enough of their customer service.”
